This is perhaps the most intense South Korean skin care brand that I’ve come across. Troiareuke positions itself as "professional prescription skin care" with spa-grade treatments that are customizable for particular skin conditions, skin types and skin concerns. Of course, the name is, shall we say, "interesting" in English — as are so many products and brand names across K-beauty. Like Make P:Rem, COSRX and r:ep! But the weird English name award goes to...Innisfree. Innsifree kills me. Where are we, the Scottish Highlands?! Scotland and Seoul are approximately 8,596 km or 5,341 miles apart. In other words, worlds apart. But apparently they're deeply linked by skin care. 🙄
A division of Seoul-based MK Universal, a leader in the Korean professional skincare industry, Troiareuke takes its name from the ancient Greek word for beginning or foundation and formulates based on the belief that one's emotions and external environment have a significant effect on skin health. Skin care that treats both internal and external stressors is indeed trending throughout the beauty industry.
Murad's new anti-stress Revitalixir™ Recovery Serum
In fact, next week the cosmeceutical brand Murad is launching a new product specifically formulated to treat stress effects on skin. The brand's Revitalixir™ Recovery Serum is purported to be "a skin-relaxing blend of neuropeptide, paracress and cannabis [that] helps smooth while boosting softness and moisture." Be on the lookout for CBD and cannabis derivatives to find their way into a lot more of our skin care in the coming year. Cannabis is a known anti-inflammatory with both antioxidant and anti-aging properties. Whether it has similar calming effects on stressed skin as it does on stressed minds is up in the air.

I know when I'm a little emo, stress shows up in my complexion. That much is clear. The Troiareuke formulas are rooted in three therapeutic disciplines: chroma therapy, aromatherapy and herb therapy to treat various skin concerns, including aging, hyper-pigmentation, acne blemishes, dryness and sensitivity. Now that's intriguing, right? But while I'm hip to both aromatherapy and herbal therapy, I had no idea what "chroma therapy" was. Chroma therapy is defined as, "the use of colour and light as a restorative therapy to promote mental and physical well-being." Troiareuke takes this a step further, claiming that chroma therapy can help to balance energy throughout our skin and our bodies, "whether it is on physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental levels."
As with so many skincare products and brands I've come across over the last couple of years, I discovered Troiareuke through my Skincarma IG page. The brand recently sent me one of their more innovative formula collections — the Troiareuke H+ Cocktail Ampoule system.
It's freshly activated skin care, something I absolutely love. Of course, my all time fave fresh-activation treatment is the peptide powerhouse COPPER AMINO ISOLATE SERUM 2:1 from Deciem's deep science brand NIOD. Each Troiareuke chroma therapy power-up ampoule is packaged along with a Skin Complex formula "base" comprised of moisturizers, hydrators, vitamins and antioxidant pinus densiflora leaf extract — an interesting extract with antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-hypertensive effects. The H+ Cocktail Skin Complex base functions as a misting spritz that makes application easy, hands-free — and more evenly and effectively distributed over the skin surface.
Fortunately, I was given all four of the chroma therapy ampoules to blend with individual bottles of the H+ Cocktail Skin Complex base. That allows me to tailor my application to my particular skin concerns on any given day.
