To me, there’s no more neglected area of the face than the eye area. Sure, most people either use a dedicated eye cream or simply use their facial moisturizer around their eyes. There’s nothing wrong with that — in fact, it’s smart.

Unless you have a concern for dark circles and puffiness, a well-formulated facial moisturizer is all you need. Except, of course when it comes to sunscreen.

And that’s my point. Most people I know, and many of them my age, don’t take proper care of their eye area. And, I’m sorry to say, it shows.

Most people I know, and many of them my age, don’t take proper care of their eye area. And, I’m sorry to say, it shows. The skin around the eyes is the most delicate on the face. And that’s why the first signs of aging on your face occur around your eyes. It’s the direct result of a lack of sun protection — something delicate skin needs most.

So why don’t more people use sunscreen in their eye area? Because they’ve been burned! Traditional chemical based sunscreens tend to migrate into the eyes — and, yeah, that burns. But it’s no reason to give up and not protect eye-area skin from damaging UV rays. It should be the impetus to find an SPF product that works in the eye area by staying put. Great eye treatments with sunscreen are hard to find.

For years now, I’ve used the SkinCeuticals Physical Eye UV Defense SPF 50. It’s got a putty like texture that stays in place.

So I’m super excited to share that I’ve found another one! The Supergoop! Bright-Eyed 100% Mineral Eye Cream SPF 40 is a terrific mineral-sunscreen formula. Bright-Eyed is made with a non-nano, Zinc Oxide complex that includes a blend of probiotics, antioxidants and caffeine for a bit of de-puffing.

Bright-Eyed has a slight illuminating tint to it that helps to minimize the look of dark circles — which, incidentally, are often a result of inadequate sun protection. It’s a damn solid formula…and it stays put!

The Supergoop! Bright-Eyed 100% Mineral Eye Cream is available on the Sephora website for $42. Never mind an offering to honor the gods; consider honoring your eye area with a daily sunscreen! Explore all of Supergoop’s clean sun care products for face and body here.

That’s it guys. I hope you are faring well during the quarantine. This too shall pass — and before you know it, we’ll all be running around in the sun again. Be prepared.
