I’ve really been enjoying the clean, effective skincare from Allies of Skin. You may recall my recent blog article about some of the best Vitamin C face serums titled, New Vitamin C Facial Serums I Love but You’ve Probably Never Heard Of! If you missed it, catch it here.
I included the Allies of Skin 35% Vitamin C Collagen Rebuilding Serum. While I’m not convinced skin benefits from a 35% concentration of Vitamin C, it certainly doesn’t seem to hurt — the brighter, the better!
So that Vitamin C face serum, as intriguing as it is, got me all curious about what else Allies of Skin has to offer. And the brand’s Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment caught my eye.
The name is quite a mouthful! AOS describes it as “a daily leave-on treatment (pH 5.0-5.4) supercharged with multiple peptides, 7 Brighteners, 9 Antioxidants and a 16.5% Repair Complex to firm and repair damaged skin.”
It’s sounds like a healthy fruit salad for the skin! AOS positions it as something of an anti-aging moisture mask, hence the “leave-on” claim. Why they don’t just call it a moisturizer is lost on me. It’s a moisturizer…with a lot of anti-aging oomph!
The brand claims it’s a “time-release” formula, which I find odd. Generally, time release is important for harsher actives like Retinol that can irritate the skin if released at once.
The Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment indeed contains a slew of antioxidant extracts and vitamins — as well as 3 peptides at higher levels than I was expecting. It contains brightening Niacinamide (probably 3% of the formula) and even a nourishing ferment.
Interestingly, at ingredient no. 5 is Caffeine! That’s weird! But, it’s also a potent antioxidant, so why not!
The silicone-free Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment has the texture of a thick lotion that feels superbly moisturizing on the skin. Such an intriguing formula!
