PRODUCT REVIEW: PAULA’S CHOICE CBD SKIN TRANSFORMATIVE TREATMENT MILK – BEST FACE CREAM FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

PAULA’S CHOICE | CBD SKIN TRANSFORMATIVE TREATMENT MILK

OMG! You know CBD skin care has arrived when Paula’s Choice introduces a serum powered by 150mg of cannabidiol — and backed by Paula Begoun herself.

Yes, Paula made a rare appearance to promote the brand’s new CBD Skin Transformative Treatment Milk. But you can’t watch her, or even buy the product, on the Paula’s Choice web site. It’s just still too risky for an established skincare brand to promote CBD in any form.

So, PC made a separate website — paulaschoicecbdskincare.com to make the product available to us.

I love the brand’s definition of CBD and its new milky serum: “CBD (also known as cannabidiol) is a non-intoxicating component of hemp. We blend full-spectrum cannabidiol with nourishing plant oils to deliver unique benefits to skin. CBD won’t get you high—it doesn’t have the mind-altering properties of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).”

What is CBD in skincare?

For the answer, I turned to the trusted experts on the Paula’s Choice Research Team, as I so often do. According to the Paula’s Choice Research Team:

Cannabidiol has been shown to offer numerous benefits related to calming skin. Skin has specific receptor sites for cannabinoids (referred to as its endocannabinoid system). It seems CBD can “talk” to these receptor sites on skin, sending unique signals to stop firing the wrong messages, which in turn leads to healthier, better-looking skin. This benefit makes cannabidiol an intriguing ingredient for interrupting the progression of damage within skin’s uppermost layers that can lead to visible problems; however, more research needs to be done to gain a greater understanding of how CBD works on skin.

Research has also shown, though isn’t entirely clear on how this works, that CBD seems to visibly reduce oily skin. It’s also a very good antioxidant, on par with vitamins C and E.

CBD has similar calming benefits for the skin as it does for the rest of the body. On skin, it calms and soothes irritation.

Of the intriguing benefits of its treatment milk, PC says, “CBD diffuses reactivity in skin—think redness, tightness, flaking, rough texture, dullness & signs of aging—by positively influencing skin's key receptors, telling them to do the right thing. Ongoing use helps soothe these stressors for calmer, healthier, more youthful skin.”

I was really surprised by the texture of this milky serum. Rather than milk itself, it’s closer to half and half, or heavy cream.

If you struggle with hyper-sensitive, inflamed skin, you may want to consider incorporating this cool treatment into your routine — it’s simply one of the best face creams for sensitive skin that I’ve come across.
